Separate Yourself is a DIY blog about cooking, creating, living and building things on a budget. Every DIY-er that visits Separate Yourself can expect to read and see photos of real-life projects created by a motivated woman (me) with no background in carpentry or culinary. To me, life is about learning new things, embracing challenges, and conquering your fears. The name of my blog was inspired by a verse in the Bible that talks about how Christians should be separate from the world and be different. "Therefore, come out from them and be separate, says the Lord." (2 Cor. 6:17). Women often feel like they are not capable of working with tools and saws because culture says, "that's a man's job" but I believe that anyone can do anything they put their mind too. I challenge everyone to separate yourself from this world and draw near to the vision God has for you. Our God is limitless and he lives inside us. "With God all things are possible" (Phil 4:13).

I have a degree in education and taught three years in a brick-and-mortar school and I currently teach English to Chinese children online. I also serve as a mentor for college student athletes. My husband has played professional baseball and he played football in college. Through the years we have been able to meet so many people and learn about how others live. We strive to take to the good we see and spread it around our world. I once heard a preacher say, "You may cannot change THE world, but you can change YOUR world."
