Make a $150 Floral Grape Vine Wreath for less than $40

Do you ever go to Hobby Lobby and just drool over the wreaths and large planters and wish that you had one for your home? Well, I do. I had my eye on a wreath there for several weeks and decided I was going to use my 40% off coupon to buy it. I went to get one and looked at the price to see that it was $159. Even with my 40% it would be too much for something that will be thrown in the trash in a couple years when I get tired of looking at it. So I decided that I was going to venture over into the flower isle where flowers were marked down 50% off and grabbed a few stems and bundles that I like. I went with some neutral colors so that the wreath would be appropriate all year (if I wanted to keep it up). Then I bought a grape vine wreath, plain. They have these in all different sizes so I chose the size that would be appropriate for my front door. I also grabbed some extra glue sticks and a roll of burlap and I was done. Below is the image of my wreath that I made for $40 with materials all from Hobby Lobby.

Now obvioudly there are several other stores that sell stemmed and bundled flowers, but I love Hobby Lobby's values and want to support them, so I went with the Hobby Lobby flowers. AND with 50% off, other store's have a hard time competing with their prices. Also, I used my 40% off coupon on the Grape Vine wreath since it was the most expensive thing I bought.

Hobby Lobby ALWAYS has a 40% off coupon on their website that you can use once a day on one item not on sale. I ALWAYS take advantage on that. The process of making the wreath is pretty simple. Read below for the materials you will need and how to make the wreath.

Materials:

Stem or bundles of flowers of your choice (Prices Vary; mine costed approx. $30)

16'' Grapevine Wreath ($7.99 Hobby Lobby)(I used my 40% coupon on the wreath)

2 '' Wired Ribbon of choice ($1.99 Hobby Lobby)

Tools needed:

Glue gun/glue sticks

scissors

Time: 2 hours

Total Cost: $40

How to Make the Wreath

Begin by cutting off the heads of some of the flowers leaving about an inch of stem connected. You will also want to cut some leaves off to use to make the flowers on the wreath look real. The first thing you will put on the wreath is the bow with the ribbon. Just wrap the ribbon around the wreath and tie it like a shoe. You can shape the bow once it is tied and even glue it down to make sure it keeps it's shape. Begin placing the flowers on the wreath just seeing where you like them. Do not glue anything until you place all the flowers on the wreath. You can stick the flowers between the cracks of the wreath and they will stay in place temporarily so you can get a good look at what it will look like before gluing. When you use all your flowers, go back and add the leaves to the places that you think they will look good. The leaves do not often stay put without glue so you will have to just get an idea of where they will go. Once you figure out the placement of the flowers, begin gluing them one at a time by picking up a flower and gluing it right where it was. Repeat this process and the wreath is finished.

It is really not hard at all to make a grapevine wreath. When it is finished, you will have a beautiful wreath that would sell at Hobby Lobby for $125, but you will have only $40 in it.
